LPGA Tour – Sharp Still….Sharp

Alena Sharp is continuing her strong run after impressive finishes at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and the Meijer LPGA Classic.  The Hamilton, Ontario native shares 3rd place after the opening round of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Her score of 65 has her in a tie for 3rd place.

An opening 69 (-2) put Brooke Henderson in a share of 52nd.

Other Canadians: Maude-Aimee Leblanc (71), Samantha Richdale (71), Anne Catherine Tanguay (72).

PGA Tour – Hearn In Contention

Brantford, ON’s David Hearn is tied for 11th place at the Quicken Loans National after scores of 70 and 67. B.C.

Nick Taylor has a share of 25th after scores of 69 and 70.

Adam Hadwin failed to make the 36-hole cut.

Symetra Tour – Canadians Have Home In Top Ten

At the Island Resort Championship in Michigan several Canadians are off to a fast start.

The tour’s #8 leading money winner, Augusta James, posted an opening 69 (-3).

B.C. golfer’s Sue Kim and Jessica Wallace started their weeks with scores of 70 (-2).

Swingthought Tour – McQuillan Returns

Former PGA Tour member and current Web.com Tour member Matt McQuillan of Kingston, Ontario returned to action after dealing with a rib injury for much of the Spring.

The former MacKenzie Tour winner has posted rounds of 70-70-69 at the Swingthought Tour Biggs Cadillac-Buick-GMC Classic in Abermarle, North Carolina.

He shares 17th place with one round remaining.

Web.com Tour – Bye Bye Canadians

It was a unfruitful week on the Web.com Tour for the six Canadians in the field at the Air Capital Classic presented by Aetna.

None of the six made the 36-hole cut.

Mackenzie Tour – Love and Clapp Near The Lead

While Max Rottluff and Carter Jenkins lead the way at -12 at the SIGA Dakota Dunes Open just outside Saskatoon, two Canadians are also near the lead.

James Love of Calgary in one stroke back at -11 while Brad Clapp of Chilliwack, B.C. is at -10.
