Port Perry, Ontario golfer Christian Elliott helped his Penn State University Golf Team in a big way this past weekend in a match with rivals Michigan State.
The Junior shot 71 on the Cypress Creek Golf Course at the Champions Golf Club in Houston, Texas to help his team to a 364-368 win in the stroke play match.
Elliott’s 71 gave him the second lowest score recorded on the day and one of only two posted at even par or better. He was only bettered by teammate Charles Huntzinger, who posted a 68.
It was a strong showing for Elliott on the par 71, 7200-yard layout as he was playing in the number 6 spot for the team.
“All our guys worked super hard out there today,” said Greg Nye, the Head Coach for PSU. “Charles and Christian both had outstanding rounds which separated us from the recent Big Ten Match Play champion, Michigan State.”
Elliott and his PSU Lions team have just a couple weeks left to prepare for their next tournament. That will be the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Florida starting March 11th.
