Golf Club At Lora Bay To Host National Championship

The Golf Club at Lora Bay in Thornbury, Ontario has been announced as the host of the 2016 PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf.

The club on the shores of Georgian Bay will host the national championship on September 12-15, 2016.

“The PGA of Canada is very pleased about heading to the Georgian Bay region of Ontario and the magnificent Golf Club at Lora Bay this September,” said PGA of Canada president Steve Wood. “The PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada annually features some of the best players in our association, as well as some of the most unique and memorable golf courses in Canada.”

Scheduled to be played after the weight of the tourist season is over in the region, the tournament will take place at a time of year the area is known for.

“We are thrilled to host the PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf in September,” said Lora Bay’s head golf professional Nate Clingersmith. “There’s nothing quite like the Blue Mountains and Lora Bay in the fall.”

Now a decade old, Lora Bay was created by the team of Thomas McBroom with input from major champion Tom Lehman. It has had regular mentions among many rankings and has previously hosted the Web.com Tour’s Wayne Gretzky Classic (2008-2010) and the 2007 World Skins Game.

Defending the title will be Brad Kerfoot of the Maple Downs Golf & Country Club. Last year the Smiths Falls, Ontario native w the championship at the Camelot Golf Club just outside of Ottawa.
