Team Ontario Golfers Compete in Southern California

Members of the Team Ontario golf program just wrapped up a training camp in southern California and part of their visit to the west coast included a tournament.

The team members competed in the San Diego Junior Golf Association Chris Riley Junior at Twin Oaks Golf Club in San Marcos, California on February 11 and 12.

The top finisher among both the boys and girls was Johnny Travale of Stoney Creek, Ontario. Travale posted rounds of 72 and 71 (143) to earn second place alone, just one stroke off the score of the winner, Gian-Luca Martinez.

Rounding out play for the Team Ontario boys was Tyler Nagano (t-7), Ty Celone (t-13), Zack Mason (t-23), Anthony Occhiuto (t-23), Jake Bryson (t-29), and Robbie Latter (t-31).

On the girls side of the draw the top player from Ontario was Sarah Beqaj of Toronto who finished in 5th place at 148 (76-72).

Other Team Ontario girls results: Isabella Portokalis (t-8), Victoria Zheng (t-10), Alyssa DiMarcantonio (t-14), Emily Ward (t-16), Hailey McLaughlin (t-18), Hailey Katona (22nd), and Cynthia Zhao (27th).
